A dive team in Arizona recovered the body of Frank Castillo a former major league pitcher Monday in Maricopa County.
Castillo who drowned Sunday at the age of 44 spent most of his 13 year career with the Chicago Cubs. Castillo was boating with family and friends on Bartlett Lake about 60 miles from Phoenix when Castillo decided to go swimming. A poor swimmer according to his family he didn t surface and a 911 call was placed. A dive team from the sheriff s office began a search that was suspended because of darkness Sunday and resumed Monday.
Over his major league career Castillo went 82 104 with a 4.56 ERA for the Cubs Colorado Rockies Detroit Tigers Toronto Blue Jays Boston Red Sox and Miami Marlins. He last pitched in the majors in the 2005 season.
