In this day and age one mistake can turn into accepted fact pretty quickly. On May 10 2013 the newspaper The Sacramento Bee reported that actress/singer Lena Horne had died at the age of 92 citing an article by The New York Times. There was only one problem the article was three years old and Lena died in 2010.

Just learned that Lena Horne passed away. Saddened. A legend. A true star one fan tweeted. Crying so hard. I didn t know that her death would affect me like this said another.

This isn t the first time Twitter has reacted to a mistaken report of a celebrity s death the social networking site has also been responsible for the false passings of Cher Denzel Washington and Jeff Goldblum to name a few.
It just goes to show how quick we are now to assume truth and how rumors and mistakes can spread like wildfire and become accepted as fact. The Sacramento Bee has since removed the original post from their website.
At least Lena was properly remembered again
