The Redskins took a break from OTAs for the three day weekend but Robert Griffin III was still in the news serving as an honorary grand marshal for the National Memorial Day Parade.
The quarterback spoke to several media members and as far as I can tell attempted to tell all of them that the parade coverage shouldn t be about him.

Today s not about me he told WTOP. (Audio here.) It s about the brothers and sisters the fathers and mothers the aunts the uncles the cousins everyone who s died to help us live the way we live to even have the opportunity to have this parade. So that s what we re here honoring.

Memorial Day s more about the people who died celebrating the fact that there s people out there that made the ultimate sacrifice for us to live the way we live. And I was blessed enough to have my parents both come back from service in wars. Not everybody that I grew up with was blessed enough to have that opportunity. So it s about celebrating those people.

That s something we want to avoid and that s why we re shutting him down now. From a structurally standpoint it s not harming any of the ligaments or tendons or particular cartilage in his knee. That s what we re most concerned about. We re trying to control so it doesn t advance to the point where we need to take that sac out or take fluid out.

In a related story I was at a minor league game in Allentown Pa. over the weekend. They were serving 32 oz. Victory and Troegs drafts for $9.75. That s the way to drink good beer at a ballgame apparently.
