Update The Steam Summer Sale is live Check it out.

It looks like the Steam Summer Sale is about to begin and that s bad news for your wallet. Well at least you re going to get some good deals. There are a ton of games likely to go on sale but let s take a quick peek at some of the best ones to look out for.

If you ve been putting off playing The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim this is probably going to be your chance. The game has been out for a while and Bethesda has said it s done making DLC for it. There is now a Skyrim legendary edition with all the expansions on Steam for $60 but that s a prime target for the big sale. Expect a sizable discount on this one.

Kerbal Space Program is another game likely to go on sale. This has been one of the big hits of Steam s new Early Access program and it s cross platform. This game has you building your own space program in a sandbox kind of environment. It s currently $22.99 but it could drop quite a bit.

The Walking Dead games are a very different experience. It s about zombies but it s basically the furthest thing from Dead Island you can imagine. The Walking Dead is about the characters and the decisions you make throughout the experience. The newest episode just came out so you can expect to see the past ones come down in price during the sale. A pack of the previous episodes currently sells for $24.99. Under $10 seems possible.

If you want a little more action in your super cheap game start camping out on the Borderlands 2 page. This action RPG shooter gets a lot of promotion from Steam and it s getting to the age that a big discount is possible. It s currently selling for $29.99 this could be a big one.

There are also a number of new indie games in Steam that have a good shot at going on sale. Prison Architect is a good best since it s currently $30. Fez just hit the PC and it s a very popular title that could do well on sale. Knights of Pen Paper 1 Gunpoint and Rogue Legacy could also make a splash with even modest discounts.

Finally keep a lookout for bundle deals. Steam is always offering franchise packs with multiple games but the prices tend to come down during the sale. You could get all your gaming content in one purchase if you time it right. The Valve pack will probably go on sale for a ridiculously low number for example. The Grand Theft Auto complete pack costs $49.99 and the Rockstar pack is $59.97. Both of these could drop significantly now that the company has moved on to GTA V. Assassin s Creed and Civilization are also collections to watch for.

Whatever you do don t buy any full price game right now. If you don t want to spend money on awesome things better bury your wallet in the backyard no one can resist the allure of the Steam Summer Sale.
