A bit of the wild West is galloping into New York City.

The western epic Hell on Wheels makes a pit stop in 1867 NYC for the third season premiere Saturday at 9 p.m. (AMC).

The new scenery is personal for both the hero Cullen Bohannon and the actor playing him Anson Mount.

He s very familiar with New York but at the same time he is a man who has become more comfortable living in the underbelly says Mount. He made himself into this blue collar character to better lead his men and he s actually more comfortable with that guise.

The show is loosely centered around the construction of the first transcontinental railroad and the people who built it who called their settlement Hell on Wheels.

Mount who hails from middle of nowhere White Bluff Tenn. and now lives in Williamsburg knows something about moving from the country to the big city.

The only thing the same is the color of the money. I definitely after 20 years feel like a New Yorker but I m still in a constant state of culture shock. Maybe that s just part of what being a New Yorker is all about.

In the third season premiere Hell freezes over (literally) and Bohannon fights two kinds of wolves of the wild and of New York City. He dominates both but not without bloodshed.

Last season peaked with the shocking death of love interest Lily Bell. And now there is hell to pay but fans can expect some personal growth for Mount s character too.

He s starting to get the sense that this tree branch that keeps slapping him in the face is not necessarily bad luck says the actor. Maybe it has something to do with his choices.
