Warning Full spoilers from the New Girl season premiere to follow.

To much relief New Girl's Season 3 premiere picked up right where the Season 2 finale left off with Nick and Jess going all in on their new relationship. In an interesting moment it had never occurred to either of them that starting a relationship and already living together might not be the best combo (especially when you account for two extra roommates). This spawned a spontaneous road trip to Mexico though not without a few snags.

In many ways All In was a defining episode of New Girl in that it was the first time we got to see Nick and Jess as an official couple. All in all though not much has changed but in a good way. Their chemistry together was still just as natural here as it was in Season 2. Acutually it might have even been better now due to the fact that they don't have to hide their feelings for each other anymore.

All In was also a transitional episode as it mostly had to do with Nick and Jess struggling to go home without their relationship falling apart. It's an understandable concern one that I'm sure many fans were uneasy about as well. But if this episode is any indicator I don't think we'll have much to worry about in terms of the couple's dynamic.

Unfortunately the same can't be said for Schmidt this week whose girl troubles got the better of him after running out on Cece and Elizabeth in the Season 2 finale. Not only were the results of this subplot woefully predictable but it also cornered Schmidt into yet another frustrating romantic arc except this time it involves him damaging two relationships instead of just one. Don't get me wrong I'm all for Schmidt's wacky shenanigans and Max Greenfield played his scenes off well here but the fact that he would try to juggle two women at once seems a little beneath his character especially at this juncture.

In a surprise twist it was Winston who stole the spotlight in All In laying claim to some of the episode's best gags. His whole puzzle subplot was hilarious particularly when he decided to drop trou for some puzzle trouble. (His pants were of course later replaced by a hoodie turned sweatpants.) He also had the best line with Cece I needed your underwear... to sew into my underwear.

The best moment though came after Winston and Schmidt were dragged into Mexico by Jess as Winston discovered that we was in fact color blind. I don't know if it was the timing or the fact that this news hinged so perfectly on his inability to complete puzzles but that part of the episode was simply great. I also couldn't help but laugh at Schmidt's line Winston if you think your shoes are brown then what color do you think you are

As for the rest of All In well it was pretty tame. Nick and Jess's resort fiasco had a few funny bits including Nick yelling at that boy to give him his bracelet and later Nick's critique of resort jail It's not so bad. They let me watch Ugly Betty. Otherwise their storyline wasn't all that entertaining more just interesting. There were also a couple of weird moments there at the end like when Jess Winston and Schmidt started bribing various employees to locate Nick why didn't Jess just ask to see the security guard that cuffed him Also cutesy passport schtick aside how did Nick get back into the states
