Chris Webber buried the hatchet with the university that first catapulted him to fame then disgraced his name and buried any mention of his presence.
The Fab Five star was a surprise attendee at Monday night's national championship watching Michigan play Louisville with his famed teammates.
He hasn't had a public relationship with the university since his role in a booster scandal led to sanctions and the stripping of the team's 1993 Final Four appearance.
Webber tweeted a message prior to the game
I'm here at the Georgia Dome to show my support for the Michigan men's basketball team in its quest for a National Championship. I've known some of the players on the team since they were kids and I am excited for them and all of the student athletes on the court tonight who are wearing the Michigan uniform. It has been a great season and I wish them all the best.On Sunday Webber's Fab Five partner and childhood friend Jalen Rose took to a national podcast on Sunday night to convince Webber to attend the game.
It's almost like a flagrant omission if he decides not to come Rose said to ESPN's Bill Simmons.
But Webber did come. And he was wearing a crazy hat.
