'300 Rise of an Empire' picks up not long after '300' left off as Xerxes the Great of Persia battles the Greeks to avenge his father Darius' death and become a god.
The beautiful and deadly Eva Green is showcased in the trailer for '300 Rise of an Empire.'Beware the winds of vengeance.
That's the big message that comes through the newly released trailer for 300 Rise of an Empire.
The first extended look at the highly anticipated follow up to 300 features the beautiful but dangerous Artemisia (Eva Green) the general of the Persian navy.
She's seeking revenge and she does it well says Sullivan Stapleton who plays the Greek leader Themistokles. He would know. His outnumbered navy faces Artemisia's wrath in the new film.
Artemisia's beef with the Greeks Well when she was a child they killed her family an act that is alluded to in the trailer. In the movie she's grown up beautiful and gunning for revenge.
She's got sex appeal says director Noam Murro. She is ruthless and cunning. All the things that kill men. And she has a sword.
Not to mention a massive Persian navy.
300 Rise of an Empire is not a sequel to the 2006 box office hit 300. The movie takes place at the same time but at sea in primarily small boats. Themistokles must rally his rag tag navy to fight off the massive onslaught.
It is tied visually to the original says Murro. But there is a whole different choreography of fighting and war.
The few against the many is still here Murro adds. It's hundreds versus hundreds of thousands. It's about taking on the mightiest power of all with wisdom and tactics.
300 Rise of an Empire hits theaters March 7 2014.
