Daytona Beach police nab SunTrust bank robbery suspect with tip from transient

Roman Chernov 47 was arrested on Tuesday after a transient told police that he knew who the robber was the report shows. He was charged with robbery without a firearm.

The SunTrust at 200 S. Palmetto Ave. was robbed on July 30 police said. Investigators said Chernov wearing a horizontal striped polo shirt sunglasses and a ball cap gave the teller a note that read Money no dye pack.

The tipster said a man named Roland was showing off a lot of cash the same day the bank was hit the report shows.

The transient also said that the shirt Roland was wearing when he was captured by surveillance video at the bank was one the transient had given to Chernov the report shows.

Chernov is being held at the Volusia County Branch Jail on $5 000 bail.
