The Mega Millions lottery jackpot swelled to $400 million after no one won Tuesday night's drawing the second largest pot in its history.
The estimated jackpot is also the fifth largest in U.S. lottery history. No one has won the Mega Millions jackpot in about two months and it has grown quickly since even the last drawing where the estimated payout would have been $344 million.
Winners in Maryland Kansas and Illinois netted what remains the largest jackpot on record $656 million in the Mega Millions last year. The other massive jackpots in the top 5 are all from the Powerball lottery.
